So, I woke up this morning and was all "asdflkjasdkfj MUST WRITE FIC".
So, I did. Yes, another one. I don't know where all this is coming from! Might be because I am supposed t be doing other things, haha.
Fortunately, this one is very short (not finished yet, but so far it's 1/2 a handwritten page, and I don't see it getting much longer than one page double-sided), so whatev. Won't take too much time to finish and edit.
And it's Poland/Lithuania. I think they're quickly passing Canada/US as my favourite, which is... unexpected, but of course I don't mind one bit, because they're awesome and at the same time they're so... so... ;~;!!!! So sad. Yes.
(There are poppies involved. Whoo.)
Anyway. So, there's that.

Ehhhhh I have a shitton of work to do today. Lovely. And laundry, that too. Sigh. I don't know if I should go to the Roastery to do my work, or what. Maybe. Then again, I might wait until the evening, because on Sundays the Roastery tends to be EXTREMELY CROWDED because everything else is closed, and there isn't much to do, so everyone goes there. Poo.
And I think I'm getting a cold, because my nose is plugged. Or maybe that's because I woke up all weepy, because the dream I was having was SO SAD.

I think I have far too much sensibility, and not nearly enough sense.

And, ARRRGH. This is completely unrelated, but I wish I hadn't had to leave my Moomin comics behind when I moved last summer. ;~; It was bad enough losing my classical literature, but... but... Moomins! I want to re-read them, but I can't. Noooooooo

I think Poland and Lithuania could distract anyone from their favorite pairing for a while. I know they do for me anyway. I always come back, but Poland and 'Liet' are like totally, way too cute (though I have no idea why Poland is such a valley girl, but it's cute.)

Ahaaa, yes, totally cute, for sure~ (I cannot think of a reason for the valley girl-ish thing either. I'm sure if I thought for a while I could conjure up some reasoning, but it would all be nonsense xD)

And aside from them being cute - I love the way the historical part can play out in their relationship. I didn't know, previously, that the two countries had such a strong relationship. So, knowing that, and seeing it sketched out with the characters... Mm, I don't know, I just find it fascinating. These two, their fellowship is so strong, and not only that, so grounded in history, that it gives so much space to play with.

And, it makes me want to read up on all the historical bits, but I'm so busy with school and re-learning my Canadian history that I don't know when I'll get to it, alas~

I think maybe the author was just trying to give some characters, like Sweden and Poland, interesting accents to differentiate them, and somehow Poland got the, I think it was, 'Nagoya (I think it was Nagoya) high schooler' accent. And the equivalent to that in English is valley girl. So that explains why you always see fanart of Poland in a Japanese high school girl uniform...but still not why Poland sounds like a Japanese high school girl in the first place.

And yes, the history! I had no idea really, about their history, until I read Hetalia. It's shocking how I could have missed them, too, since apparently they were the biggest thing in Europe for a while. But usually when I study European history for that time I stick to England and England was only concerned with France and Spain at that time I guess. So I never heard of this massive Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth.

Of course, after I found out about it, I started to look at the country's later relationships, particularly the 20th century...and it gets super-depressing. Though the early 20th c. is depressing for all of Europe, I guess.
