Three things make a post
Jul. 26th, 2021 08:39 pm+ I've been watching Poldark while doing my knitting, and... man, I don't know why it took me so long to get around to this. It's exactly the sort of dramatic historical nonsense that my soul desires. (I think I initially assumed it was some sort of historical fantasy thing? But I might have been getting it mixed up with the Strange & Norrell adaptation, which came out around the same time.) Just finished the first season, and wished to keep going right away buuut I've been trying to limit myself to only one episode per night because of the usual "if I watch all of it then there won't be any more" problem. Anyhow. My deepest desires right now are fancy costumes and ~drama~ and the occasional pretty scenery, and this delivers in spades. Apparently it's based on a novel series? Which my local library doesn't carry, but maybe once ILL becomes a thing again, I'll investigate....
+ My tumblr dash is conspiring to get me to watch Major Grom: Plague Doctor, the recently-released Russian superhero film. It's an adaptation of a comic book, and I know one person from Russian fandom who was looking forward to it very much - apparently she thought it was pretty satisfactory. And now Tik has gotten into it, so, I mean, obviously it's inevitable that I will watch it soon; I clearly have no choice. [/throws up hands in mock-surrender!] I will not lie, I know nothing about it other than the title, but that plus the reception from people I like is enough to get me curious, even though at this point I'm rather tired of superheroes.
+ Good gods, I am so sick of my own writing. (I am at that "this is all terrible" stage of working on something. Bleh.)
