yuuago: (Norway - Coffee)
Good god, lie vs lay is confusing enough in English, how the heck am I supposed to keep it straight in Norwegian?!

Continued, lie vs lay, å legge vs å ligge vs å stå )

...9 in the morning is too early in the day for studying Norwegian. Or any kind of studying, for that matter. At least if one has only had one cup of coffee.

Here's what I currently have out from the library:

Iced Water by John Unrau. Canadian poetry. Enjoying it a lot so far. His stuff tends toward short, with vivid landscape imagery, which is right up my alley.

Flowers of Mold by Ha Seong-Nan, translated by Janet Hong. Korean author. Short stories. Haven't had a chance to open this one yet. From the back: "On the surface, Ha Seong-nan's stories seem pleasant enough, yet there's something disturbing just below the surface, ready to permanently disrupt the character's lives". Sounds like something I'll like.

The Collected Songs of Cold Mountain. Collected facing translation of all of Han Shan's surviving work, as well as some contemporaries. I've been looking forward to this VERY MUCH, and I can hardly wait to read it.

Britt-Marie Was Here by Fredrik Backman, translated by Henning Koch. Swedish author. Novel. I've read two of Backman's other works and enjoyed them very much, so I'm looking forward to this. His work tends to be cozy and a little bit absurd, with colourful characters. (Though not without a bit of melancholy too. I'm not sure how much of that will be in this one.)
