The Exorcist [TV, Season 1]

So! I finished watching the first season of The Exorcist this past weekend, but I forgot to write about it.

I watched it because I saw a lot of people say that they liked it. I can see where they're coming from. Unfortunately for me, this seems to be one of those cases where I can see why people find it appealing, and I think it's overall done pretty well, but I don't particularly like it.

I think part of the thing is that I'm not typically very interested in exorcism horror. Films and such that centre around it rarely grab me. And I'm not very interested in Christian mythology. So overall, the effect is a little bit... eh. Considering my preferences, I should have expected this, but I suppose I hoped that it would wow me enough to win me over.

I have a feeling that I might have responded a bit better to it if it were an anime or manga. The aesthetic the series has going on fits those mediums pretty well.

The acting was pretty good, though, especially on the part of the two mains (though not limited to them). Lots of chemistry between those two. And I can definitely see why people like this show. It's too bad it was cancelled.

Since there are only two seasons of this, I might watch the second eventually, but for now I'm pushing it down the queue a bit until I tackle some of the other series on my to-watch/rewatch list.
