I! Am! So! Miserable!

The weather probably has something to do with it - more accurately, being stuck inside - but still.

Nothing objectively bad has happened today, but I'm still sad and angry and cranky. ARGH.

...Though to be fair, I still have not received a reply about that issue with the paperwork, even after emailing through two different channels (one of which is our designated contact person). And nobody in the office knows about the information we need either, or even seems to care about this very important paperwork.

[/facepalm]

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go run on the treadmill until I collapse.

(Kidding, kidding, but... ugh, I really do feel like shit and a good run will... um... WELL after that, I will still feel like shit, but at least I'll have done something useful for my health. I guess.)

It was -50C this morning. I think that calls for some warm music, don't you? A little too tired to do a detailed entry, but here's a quick rec for something I've been enjoying for a while.

Kobo Town is a Caribbean-Canadian music group. Their vocalist/songwriter, Drew Gonsalves, is originally from Trinidad, and a lot of his inspiration comes from his experience living there, as well as missing the island after he moved to Canada.

Check out their work if you like a groovy calypso sound. It's great stuff. I'm so glad that CKUA plays their music occasionally; they have a really unique sound.

You can find their 2017 album, Where the Galleon Sank, on Bandcamp here. They won a Juno and a CFMA award for it, very well-deserved.

Their official youtube doesn't have a lot uploaded, but what they do have is a pretty good example of what's on this album. London Town is one of my favourites. Another good one is Scarborough Girl, featuring the very accomplished calypsonian Calypso Rose*, whose work I'm definitely going to have to check out some time in the future.
