Knitting adventures
Dec. 26th, 2018 08:48 pm"Remove waste yarn, leaving live stitches..." ...Let's not and say we did. Better to just shove my knitting needle in there and work around it. ;)
In other words, I finished the cowl I was working on (That Nice Stitch pattern). I'll try to get photos of it next time I have daylight to work with, which'll probably be the weekend.
It was my first time doing anything that required provisional cast + graft, so it was a little bit AHHH, HOW DO I DO THIS, but after squinting at instructions for quite a while, I managed to do it, yay! So, I'm pretty pleased with myself. :)
The yarn I used was kind of weird; "Berroco Boboli Lace" - it's a wool/acrylic/rayon mixture, so the texture was somewhat artificial and somewhat not; and the width is a "thick and thin" type, which I haven't worked with before. The shade is a slightly shimmery gold/silver/bronze mixture. It was really strange and kind of annoying to work with, but the end result looks pretty decent, so I can't complain, I suppose! ...Also, I have no idea what I originally planned for that ball of yarn, so at least I found a use for it. ;p
Once you have the setup on this pattern, it's really easy to memorize, so this one makes great television knitting, I must say. :V I foresee myself making more of these things. (I've got to find some use for all that random sock yarn....)
Next project will probably be the Latvia oh Latvia cowl, but I will need to check if I have the correct needles first. ...And dig out the yarn that I want to use from storage.
Speaking of Latvian stuff, take a look at these Latvian-inspired mittens. So lovely! So totally something that I do not have the patience to knit! xD Ahh, maybe some day.
