And now the ESC final!

As before, will be using Swedish subtitles.

Ah, Petra has joined the commentator today.

And now we have last year's winner, singing "The Code". Gosh, that is one fancy hat. And fancy costume. Pretty dress. Looks good on them! More emphasis on the opera I think - not intrinsically, but the ~vibe~.

And now we have Drum Corps Basel, looking good! And shortly after, the introduction of the singers. Still surprised that Ukraine got in. Ahh, Austria's singer is cute. And whoo, Væb! And ahh, Greece's singer is so pretty. Ditto Albania's singer too - I hope ALbania will do well, their entry was very good.

You know, I didn't realize that ESC started in Switzerland. I guess I thought it'd first been started in one of the big 5. Something to look up later, I guess

Norway - Kyle Alessandro - "Lighter"
I feel like this performance is much better than his semifinal. Maybe he was just nervous in the semifinal? Anyway, his singing's much steadier, and it sounds a lot better. Still not my favourite entry, but it's pretty fun! Nice '00s style.

Luxembourg - Laura Thorn - "La poupee monte le son"
This song makes references to a long-time ESC favourite by France Gall. I'm not familiar with that song, will have to look it up later. As for this one, honestly I don't even like this song but it got stuck in my head after the semifinal. La poupee monte le son na na na na na naaaaa... I dunno, the chorus is very earwormy. This one too seems much better than the semifinal, which is great.

Estonia - Tommy Cash - "Espresso Macciato"
Yeah, I still don't like this song much. I dunno, it's just not working for me. The funny dance is pretty good tho', looks hard to do.

Israel - Yuval Raphael - "New Day Will Rise"
The song's all right. I don't have much to say about it. Costuming is still pretty and the staircase is still cool.

Lithuania - Katarsis - "Tavo Akys"
I still really love this. It's exactly my kind of music. And the song is like... it's kind of haunting, something about the way it's sung and the vocalist's voice... idk. Also kind of sexy, especially when he sings those long notes, y'know. ...And yeah, I guess I do find the singer hot. IDK. He does have a nice face, but it's something about the haircut - that style is very nostalgic, I remember finding it very attractive when I was a teenager.

Spain - Melody - "Esa Diva"
I wish she kept the black dress and the hat through the whole song, that look is Very Classy. The silver bodysuit getup looks more like something a superhero would wear, lol. As for the song, I dig it. It's fun! Energetic! And that tango flip at the end is super impressive. ...Red soles on her heels, are those Louboutins? Very fancy shoes, anyhow.

Ukraine - Ziferblat - "Bird of Pray"
This one sounds steadier than the semifinal. But I still find that I prefer the parts in Ukrainian and don't care for the parts in English at all. They should have just done the whole thing in Ukrainian, it sounds much cooler.

United Kingdom - Remember Monday - "What the hell just happened?"
Yeah, I still don't like this one. It's kind of a pee break song. Their singing is okay - they're clearly skilled, but the song's a dud.

Austria - JJ - "Wasted Love"
I still love this entry. <3 The costuming, the staging, the singing! It's so good. 12 points to Austria!

Iceland - Væb - "Roa"
Yeah, I'm still loving Icelandic Jedward. The song's fun and bouncy, the dancing is fun, the costuming is neat and glittery, the singers are cute. What's not to love, really. Honestly, if I had to pick a "fun" act to win, it would be this one - I love Sweden's song too, but Sweden's won a ton of times, and I feel like this one has more replay value.

Latvia - Tautumeitas - "Bur man laimi"
I still thing this is beautiful. <3 Still hate the costumes though. Oh, one of the ladies has eyes drawn on her eyelids, that's a cool effect - didn't notice that previously. The commentator mentioned that this group had a large budget; it really shows, what with the LED effects in the costuming.

Netherlands - Claude - "C'est la Vie"
Singer's still handsome. Song is still pretty but not my favourite. I think I'd prefer if the whole thing was in French. His thank you at the end was very sweet though.

Finland - Erika Vikman - "Ich komme"
The commentator mentioned that Rammstein is one of this artist's inspirations; I hadn't considered that before, but... yeah, I can kinda see it. Anyway, her voice is pretty powerful! I do find that impressive. And I will admit that the ending is very cool!

Italy - Lucio Corsi - "Volevo essere un duro"
I like this much more the second time around than I did in the semifinal. There's just something about it; it's nice. A good song. Plus I love the harmonica bit.

Poland - Justyna Steczkowka - "Gaja"
Powerful voice! The singing is beautiful, the costumes still suck. I like this more than I did the first time around, I would say.

Germany - Abor & Tynna - "Baller"
...Yeah, I really enjoy this, actually. IDK, it has a nice rhythm and I like the vocals. I'm curious about how the studio version sounds - will have to check it out.

In the short break (set change) I appreciate that they're taking the time to highlight the backstage crew and the people who do all the set changes, all the work that goes into making it seamless. I feel like the Behind the Scenes folks just don't get enough recognition. There'd be no show without them!

Greece - Kladia - "Asteromata"
Pretty song, pretty singer, pretty costume. It's beautiful really. I'm not sure I'm into the costume change at the end - it feels a little unnecessary - but still.

Armenia - Parg - "Survivor"
This is a song that needs to be played at sports matches, haa. It's very energetic (well, minus the slow part). IDK, the more I listen to it, the more I like it.

Switzerland - Zoe Me - "Voyage"
This song is pretty, but I dunno. I think I like it as a regular song, but not so much for Eurovision. It's well done, at least.

Malta - Miriana Conte - "Serving"
Well, she sure has a strong voice! I'm still not into the song, but she's definitely giving 100%!

Portugal - Napa - "Deslocado"
I like this more the second time around than I did the first time. It's a nice song! Not necessarily ESC, but still good. I don't think they'll place high, but then again who knows. It does sound really nice though.
The commentator said they've been compared to the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I don't know about that. :Va

Denmark - Sissal - "Hallucination"
This one's all right. I think I'll enjoy the studio version a lot more once I get to it. I'm not into the costume, but that gauzy cape/scarf/thing is pretty cool. The background dancers look like those weird blow-up windsocks that you see outside car dealerships, though.

Sweden - KAJ - "Bara bada bastu"
Yeah, it's a funny ESC song, but it sure helps that the chorus sounds genuinely good, and it's super catchy. Plus I sure do love accordion.
Haaaa the way Petra and the commentator went nuts at the end of the song was very cute. WELL, I guess we'll just have to see how Sweden does after the voting.

France - Louane - "Maman"
Her voice is very pretty. The song is nice, but I'm not totally loving it. I dunno, it's not an instant love for me the way "Voila" was.

San Marino - Gabry Ponte - "Tutta L'Italia"
Yeah, I still enjoy this. It's fun, it's bouncy. Sounds kinda like a normal song. I'm normally not into the sound of Italian language really, but it sounds good here. (IDK maybe I just have baggage from being pressured to learn it, hah). The song isn't super smooth, though. I wonder what the studio version sounds like.

Albania - Shkodra Elektronike - "Zjerm"
Gosh, her voice is beautiful. This song is super pretty. Love her eye makeup. ...Are those red contacts?! Whoa. The spoken word part still sounds very cool - I really will have to look up the translation later. Love the gravelly voice on that guy. I like the way the striking of the "subwoofers" causes the pyrotechnics to go nuts - it's very cool. Anyway, I love this song, and I don't think it'll win but if it does it'll be surprised and happy.

And now the voting! I think that I would want Iceland to win. Or Albania. Not Sweden, even though I loved their song.

I ended up casting votes for the first time! I voted for Albania, Iceland, Austria, and Lithuania. The thank you messages after you vote are so sweet and nice. :D

....Haaa, interval stuff has Baby Lasagna vs Käärijä sing-off medly a la wrestling. Hilarious. Nice to hear these songs again tho', they're pretty damn fun, and the show is really good! And awww they hugged at the end, very cute.

And now we have Nemo with a new song, "Unexplainable". Unfortunately I'm not into the song so much. Deep lyrics and all that, but it's kind of slow and boring. It gets more interesting when they start doing funky vocal stuff - Nemo is very vocally talented - but I'm so meh about this one. It's definitely not as good as "The Code".

And now we sit and wait for all the votes. Auuugh this is my least favourite part of ESC; it takes so long and it's so cringe and aughh. Ahh, except for Jerry Heil showing up to give us Ukraine's jury votes; she isn't cringe. Nice to see her. <3

Gosh, the reaction from Albania when they received a ton of points from the audience vote. So cute. <3 Obviously they won't win, but it's nice that their entry was appreciated.

...lol @ UK getting null audience points, though. They did their best, but the song was a stinker.

So many audience points for Estonia, though?? Bleh, why. Well, I guess the song did have some fun gimmicks.

And.... Austria wins! I'm so glad, the Austrian entry was very very good!! Ahh, and his final performance is very good! I'm so glad we got to hear this again. <3 "Oh my god, what?!" when the confetti started falling, hahahah <3 <3 Gosh he's so cute.

WELL! That was a pretty good ESC. I'm looking forward to seeing how it goes in Austria next year!
