yuuago: (Frozen - Elsa)

Went to see Frozen II this morning. It was fun!

Target audience: I think kids who liked the first one will enjoy the second one.
Older audience: I think adults who liked the first one will like the second one too, as long as they keep their expectations realistic. (In other words, don't expect it to be the best thing you've ever seen!)

Elsa is still THE COOLEST. Shiny and sparkly and badass!! And her final outfit (the white one) is super pretty, wow.

I found the ending pretty satisfying. :)

The end solution of having Anna rule Arendelle seemed like a good idea to me. Even in the first movie, I got the impression that Elsa wasn't a good fit for being a queen there. Even without all the years of isolation.

I'm a little surprised that when Anna was trying to convince Mattias to go along with her plan of destroying the dam (and thus releasing water that will destroy Arendelle too), she neglected to mention that Arendelle had already been evacuated, and nobody would get hurt. I mean, that's a pretty big detail!

I saw someone make a comment that Honeymaren and Ryder must have had a bigger role in the original concept. After seeing the film, I agree with that. I like them both well enough, but it definitely feels like some scenes involving them must have been scrapped along the way.

On the upside, I'm glad that Honeymaren is there, because it's nice to have someone to ship Elsa with. ;) I am definitely on board with this. Even though they didn't have a whole lot of scenes together, what we did get was nice. They'd be very cute!! Though I still also like Elsa x OC stuff as a concept, too.

That one scene where Kristoff and Ryder were talking about reindeer made me think... "Damn, dude, maybe you should give up on Anna and get involved with this guy instead, since he loves reindeer just as much as you do". And it's nice to have a guy to ship Kristoff with, somebody who isn't Hans. ;p ;p Though I'm not disappointed that Kristoff and Anna worked things out in the end, because I do like them together too. ;)

"The Next Right Thing" is such a depression song for me. I can see so much of myself in that. Ugh. I felt so much for Anna during that part. Sometimes you just... need to take the next step, and then figure out where to go from there. Even if absolutely everything sucks.

Also, I liked the Kristoff + Elsa hug toward the end. It was just nice to see that? Like, leaving aside my halfassed Kristoff/Elsa feelings left over from the first movie, from a strictly platonic/familial perspective, it's nice that Elsa gets along with her future brother-in-law and that Kristoff was worried about her and stuff. I dunno, I thought it was just really nice.

Anyway. I'm in love with Elsa and her magic water/ice horse. So cool. So shiny. So magical and sparkly. If this movie had existed when I was a kid, Elsa would be my TOP FAVOURITE EVER, because she's just so cool and magical!! Haaa, there's just something about those scenes where she's riding it across the water that makes a part of me want to clap with joy.

Aaaand now, if you excuse me, I'm off to look for some Elsa/Honeymaren fanworks. ;) Hmm, maybe I should request that pairing for Chocolate Box!
