Maaan, if I could work with cables, I would totally knit this hat (Pattern is "Norrland" by Sara Huntington Burch).

But that is... wayyyy beyond my abilities, haha. And probably also my patience. It's so gorgeous, though. And those mittens!

Okay, I might as well admit - I don't want to knit that, I just want it to spontaneously manifest in my basket of winter gear so that I can wear it without going to all the effort of making the damn thing. ;p

There are so many lovely things out there that I really can't be assed to knit. Even though I probably could. Maybe. (I'll learn cables some day, probably.) I've been complaining about the ~yarn void~ lately, but honestly, even though this baby blanket I'm making is an absolute black hole, it's pretty much perfect for my attention span. I like to just... turn my brain off and knit, haa. This is why I hate making mittens, or anything that needs to be very shaped, or stuff with complicated colourwork or whathaveyou. Bleh.

Also, sweaters. I'm never gonna' make a sweater! It's never going to happen! No matter how much my family tries to pressure me to do it (what the hell).

In terms of stuff I would actually knit, this Hurricane Hat is pretty neat. Maybe I'll try that one some time.

That Nice Stitch Cowl looks like it'd be fun to make too. I've done something similar, and it was great for turning the brain off. (Do I need another scarf/cowl/neck-wear thing? No. Do I want one? ...Perhaps.)

And while I grump about shaped things, I might some day want to actually complete a pair of selbuvotter just to say that I did... these Speedy Selbu Mittens sound kind of promising, and has written instructions rather than just chart, which is good for my tastes. (Though, yikes, now that I actually check, that particular pattern can't be purchased separately, and the ebook it's in is so expensive...! Maybe this pattern by a different person would be better for me to try if I were going to bother with mittens.)

I actually do own a booklet with some very nice selbuvotter patterns in it - it was a gift from my pal Sea - but it's all in Norwegian. Um. I don't think my abilities with the language are quite there yet. Though maybe, if I took the time, I could just sit down and translate it. (I probably will not do this, because effort, but - speaking theoretically.)

I've got a whole load of random one-off skeins that I'll have to use up eventually. I planned to get through half of my stash this year, but... well. I got a little sidetracked. ;p Oh well!
