[DWGL] 10 - Liveblogging/Braindump

All right, so, episode 10 of Di Wang Gong Lüe is up with subs courtesy of Anon. Voila.

There was some speculation that there might be a break some time soon, but raws are up (somewhere) for episode 11, so I guess we were wrong about that. Excellent. :)

Anyway -



Oh, new character? Another healer? Hmm, I wonder if Doctor Zhu will stick around, or if she's just a device to dump info for Chu Yuan.

Unfortunately, she doesn't have all the answers about the Golden Silkworm Thread - but if she did, that would make things too simple, wouldn't it. Rather disappointing for Chu Yuan, though! Sorry dude, you're going to need to search a little farther afield to find someone who can cure your sweetheart friend. Far to the south, apparently.

Hmm... "If one allows it to mature inside one's body, one would be unable to endure for more than twenty years." Well, THAT is new information. So, Duan Baiyue has had it for two years, if I remember correctly. He's still got a while yet, but still, this parasite is ultimately fatal. Iiiinteresting.

Grandmaster Lan, where have I heard that name before? OH, the creepy lady from episode 03! She sure was, uh, interesting. (And 'creepy' doesn't even begin to cover it, heh.) I wonder if she recovered from Yao-er's little poison attack. ;)

(While we're on the subject, if Duan Yao were older than he is, I would have been totally into the whole "kidnapping and attempted forced marriage" thing. Alas, not so. Ah, well, at least the way things shook out was fun; I'm always down for a good rescue/showdown/escape.)

The fire incident with the Benevolent Hall is quite odd, as Chu Yuan noticed. Considering it comes so close after the mention of Grandmaster Lan, I expect the Heaven Temple Sect might be behind it. But what's the motivation? Either way, I expect we'll be seeing her some time in upcoming episodes. Or perhaps someone else associated with her sect? Hmmm.

Waaait a minute, what's Duan Baiyue doing here? Coincidences and more coincidences! ("I'll come back later" Are you planning something, dude?)

alsdkfjkdfk The way he just... comes in through Chu Yuan's window. So romantic! So dramatic! And Chu Yuan is just like "You sure do like jumping through windows, don't you." Ahhh, these two. :') I LOVE THEM.

AHHH THEIR BANTER IS SO PERFECT. Until this moment, we haven't really seen them in private together, so this is a real treat. I just... ahhh the way they get on together... The little back-and-forth about how they have spies monitoring each other... The way he steals Chu Yuan's tea and twirls away from him, just -- everything! It's all so good! I would happily sit back and watch an entire episode composed of nothing but these two flirting like mad.

And, oh my god, that bit where Duan Baiyue's talking about Lan Ji's tendency to kidnap young men, and Chu Yuan just gives him this look and he needs to clarify "She's never kidnapped me." I just. [/SNRK]

"Can I eat this?"
"It's poisoned."
(And then he eats it anyway)

"There is danger, so I will naturally stay here in the city (with you)"

And the way Duan Baiyue just plants his hands on Chu Yuan's desk and leeeaans toward him... yes, please, keep going --

Ahhh, well. It feels so nice to be catered to. :D

I feel like I should have something more intelligent to say about the actual, y'know, plot. But since the current plot is just getting set up now, I suppose I can be excused. I am, however, looking forward to finding out what's going on, and seeing Chu Yuan do more of his bright figuring-things-out thing, and I'm interested in the possibility of Lan Ji showing up again. Plus, the discussion that Chu Yuan and Duan Baiyue had suggests that they will be working together in some capacity, which should be interesting - previously, they operated at more of a distance, so this is a neat turn.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'll go back to rolling around on the floor and making squeaky noises over the banter in this episode. :D
