☆ Ahhh, time to flip the calendar! I hope everyone will have a good day. It's still really cold over here... Hopefully in a few weeks it'll be a bit more tolerable. I'm getting impatient; I wanted to put away my parka two weeks ago, damn it.

☆ Camp NaNo is upon us! This time around, I've opted to do poetry. Makes sense, considering I haven't felt like writing prose for a while now. I've set my goal at 150 lines, which is a tad ambitious - my poems average around ~15, which means I'm aiming for roughly 10. But, it should be fun! I've been interested in experimenting with form and format, so this might result in something new. (Or maybe not.)

☆ Speaking of experimentation, I finished something that required posting as an image last night (tumblr | dreamwidth). I'm still undecided as to my preferences for posting that kind of thing - particularly, whether I should include plaintext in addition to the image when posting this sort of thing. Also, things like fonts and so on... Apparently that's something that people are picky about. (Personally, I don't care so much as long as it's legible, generally.) I suppose the only way I'll be able to determine my own tastes is to write more things like this. But if any of you have opinions about how to format/post that kind of thing, I'd be interested in hearing about it.

☆ Random music rec: Hanggai's work is a mixture of traditional Inner Mongolian folk music + modern styles. I stumbled over their album He Who Travels Far on Bandcamp and man, I like it quite a bit. Someone described them as folk filtered through influence of The Pogues, and heh, I can see that. It seems like their more recent music, such as the stuff on Horse of Colours, has a much heavier sound, if "The Rising Sun" is any indicator - less folk, and more rock. So I'll have to check that album out too; see if that impression is correct. Anyway, I love this kind of stylistic fusion, and I do like throat singing, so these guys are pretty well aligned with my tastes. :D
