Oh boy, if the books in my room are any indication, this upcoming year is going to be the Year of Nonfiction, in which I attempt to read all of my unread stuff so that I can comfortably get rid of it.

I just feel so terrible giving away books that I haven't even read yet, and so I am going to solve that problem by... reading them.

This sounds pretty okay to me.

I'm attempting to get rid of books by reading them, too, but my husband hates throwing books out and we're drowning in them 😂

Though I probably wouldn't be able to stand the idea of actually throwing stuff out, either. Unless it was really terrible.

Usually I get rid of mine by donating them to the library's secondhand book sale. What the library does with 'em after they're in their hands is their business, but at least I can console myself with the thought that these might get passed on. xD Maybe something like that would be an option?

That's a really good idea! I just looked up the donation guidelines for my local library system, and they accept books published in the last five years so that's a way to move our more recent books. Maybe we could sell the ones that are older but still in good condition (an increasingly dicey proposition in a home with a toddler), assuming I can convince my packrat life mate to part with them -_-
