I second the recommendation for The Martian! I hadn't really been interested in it, but I was visiting a friend who said it was good and we ended up watching it. It was great, much funnier than I was expecting.
Also...uh...if you decide to read some Animorphs again let me know how that goes. I'm kind of scared to attempt it myself, haha.
