I live in Alberta, one of the most conservative provinces in Canada. There was a provincial election yesterday.

We just elected a less conservative provincial government for the first time in decades. (43 years, to be exact.)

It's hard to say how things are going to turn out. But for now, I'm going to be cautiously optimistic about the direction things are taking.

Must admit, though, it feels pretty weird. Did I wake up in a political AU?

Somebody over on LJ explained the election results to those of us from the US by saying it was like Bernie Sanders getting elected governor of Texas. I have no idea how apt that is, but it made me laugh.

That's true. There are some things that change and even though they're small on the grand global economical scale, they're pretty important to us normals going through our daily lives. Fingers crossed with you!
