Spanish is a great language! It is easy to pronounce and spell and grammar is very similar to English! Though it is probably a lot less useful in Canada than in the U.S. :)
I have been seriously considering learning Polish, intimidating as it is, because my husband (AHH I have one) and his family are from Poland. (My family is German, our wedding was scary.)
