What's the new fandom? Have you considered posting to Ao3/FFNet? I guess it depends on whether you want an audience or not.
Anyway, just because someone is serious about writing doesn't mean they're good at it... and also, even if someone feels they aren't good at writing, it doesn't mean they aren't actually able to write an enjoyable story.
