✿ I nudged one of my friends into acting as characterization beta for that Norway/Germany story I have going. The response is "So far, so good" which is really encouraging. I've started on part 2 (it's going to be roughly divided into 5 parts) and it feels great to know that I'm not off base with characterization and stuff, since I'm still not entirely confident writing Germany. I put down 800 words on it yesterday... feels good, man.

✿ I really should take up knitting again. I've had one particular project halfway finished for like 3/4 of a year now and it really would be good to get it done. But it's hard to sit down and concentrate on things. Maybe I should watch more movies or something - because I find it hard to watch a movie if I'm not doing anything with my hands, so it's a win-win situation. Except that it gets a little harder if I'm doing something a bit complicated.

✿ The more I hear about Disney's Frozen, the more I want to see it when it comes out. I've seen a bit of the artwork and whatnot, and it looks great so far. I know some people were grumbling because the original story was changed quite a bit, or something to that effect. But since I didn't grow up knowing the "Snow Queen" fairy tale, I'm not particularly bothered by it.

✿ Second attempt at reading Les Miserables is going pretty well! I'm about 1/5 of the way in. I've been reading it on my itouch while on the bus to work in the morning mostly, because now the mornings are too dark for me to read regular books without turning on the overhead light (and doing so bothers other passengers... I want to be courteous). I think that in the end I will be glad that I read it, but won't be very interested in the fanwork for it. And one difference I already realize in my impression of the musical/films vs the book - I enjoy the Thenardiers in the musical, but good lord, I can't stand them in the novel. I suppose it's because they're kind of used as comedy relief in the stage version, whereas the novel just hits home that they're just terrible people.

✿ I wasn't planning on watching the anime version of Shingeki no Kyojin but after seeing some snips of it I'm kind of tempted. It looks super pretty. (Though I do like the terrible artwork of the manga. The distortion kind of works with the horror aspect of it all). Though of course if I watch it my heart'll get broken all over again, PFF. (Not to mention I have so many series on the to-do list... alas.)

If you ever want to bounce Germany-related thoughts off someone, I'd be up for it. Between Bluegrass Ambassadors and the fic I'm currently working on, I've been feeling more confident in his general voice and mannerisms lately, so I'd be happy to discuss any points of interest. ^_^
