Down by the river we'll dream a while

When I stepped out this evening I realized I had mail. A surprise. Hadn't had anything in my mailbox for days, but there it was, a little package from Minni. Ahhh, salmiakki, just the treat I was needing. Haa, my parents tease me for liking it - they think it's awful stuff - but it's just an, er, acquired taste, I guess. In any case, finding that package, man, it did me good. I'm so lucky to know her.

I've been kind of down in the dumps these past few days, and that combined with not having much going on has resulted in me not having anything to write about. After receiving the package I went out and took a good long walk down by the river. I think it did me some good, but who's to know, really.

I took my camera with me when I went out, but I neglected to wear proper shoes, so I wasn't able to get down under the bridge to take any graffiti pictures, alas. I did manage to make my way in enough to get one photo, though.

Recently I've been seeing more and more stencil graffiti in Saskatoon. It's strange; this time last year, I don't remember seeing it much at all, and now it's everywhere. To be honest, I think I prefer freehand stuff, provided it's interesting, even if it doesn't usually look quite as clean as the stencil stuff.

Maybe next time I'll wear proper shoes so I can scramble around the river rocks taking pictures. We'll see.

Other than that, nothing going on... I've been doing some reading. Just finished up another volume of Black Jack; going to take a break from that and read some Pratchett for a while instead. So, I'm working my way through Wee Free Men now. Been slowly updating the Nordex (parts 10-12 covered, currently working on 9). Haven't been writing at all - I've been trying, but lately it's been absolutely no go. I sit down, I get my pen, I open up my notebook, and... not even a damn sentence. Geeze. I've been like this for a while, and it's just so frustrating. Mentioned to a friend, maybe I should try writing something entirely different from what I usually would. Not sure, but... maybe I will.

What does salmiakki taste like?

Maybe you're trying too hard? Try to relax and almost forget about writing altogether and perhaps your muse will return healthily? *hug* I hope it comes back soon.

It does sound like an acquired taste indeed! Maybe one day I'll get to try a little.

Nordex is an excellent name.

Now that exams are over, I don't feel like doing at all. I'm just spending everyday lazing around, watching movies (btw, I watched the tv/movie adaptation of Pratchett's Going Postal the other day, I thought it was pretty decent), reading books, hanging out with people, eating, sleeping.... /bums

...pokemon didn't even cross my mind. All you pokemon playing people B|

Well, uh, the problem is the "don't have anything else to do" part because there are things I could/should be doing but atm I'm just ignoring anything that isn't urgent /rolls

I've not seen Hogfather so I can't compare. Vetinari was blond, which I was a bit meh on (I thought he should have black hair!) but the guy playing him did a pretty good job imo.

I'm so tempted to buy a DS myself but not right now when I still dunno what I'm going to be doing. Maybe when I get a job... (first paycheck, buy a DS lol).

"Acquired taste"? Guuuuurl. Salmiakki is terrible, admit it.

Salmiakki tastes like burning tires and distilled death, dude. I still haven't been able to finish the box I bought last year. Eeugh.

And I wish the kids around here were more inspired enough to paint anything except nametags. Anyway, yesss, you should take more pictures. Damn, I love graffiti.

Aw, that's a shame. But I guess not everyone sees graffiti as art. Hmm, but maybe try thinking of it as a fresh canvas? There's more room for people to paint new, possibly better, stuff now. And hey, all the more reason for you to take pictures. You never know when the city'll feel like cleaning up the walls again.

I've always wanted to try salmiakki for myself since I've been hearing mixed opinions on the taste. And when I explain to people what it is, they always cringe...

Around where I live, there isn't much graffiti, tasteful or otherwise. But I wouldn't mind seeing things like the stuff on the rocks.
