Music and books and la.
Sep. 5th, 2009 01:32 pmAHHHHH Our Lady Peace has a new CD out, and I didn't even know! I'm glad that I turned on the radio today, else I wouldn't have found out. Eeee, so exciting. I'm a pretty big fan - been listening to them for years, have all their CDs, that kind of thing - so this is exciting. *_* Can't wait to get my hands on that!
When I heard the song on the radio - "All You Did Was Save My Life" - I found myself thinking, "wait, don't know the song, but this sounds like Raine". Ehee. No mistaking that guy's voice, no sir. <3 He sounds like a dyin' canary who's been smoking two packs a day all his life, but that's all right, 'cause somehow it seems to fit.
On a semi-related note, I found out that Dragonforce and Sonata Arctica are going to be playing here at the Odeon. Now, while Dragonforce isn't one of my favourites, I do like their music, and while I'm not all that familiar with Sonata Arctica, I have heard some of their stuff and I think it's pretty okay. I'm very, very tempted to go. It'd be my first real metal concert. I mean, okay, I've seen TSO, but in a lot of ways that... doesn't really count. On the other hand, I don't know if I'd want to go alone. Going to stuff alone makes me nervous.
Hah, if it was one of my favourites it'd be no question - but since it isn't, I'm waffling. Well, guess I'll have to see what my schedule is like and what th'cost of tickets is before I really make a decision.
Bahhh. Nothing else going on recently. I have some fic that I need to type up, but that's about it (and other things that I need to edit, derp). Aaaand I also need to get around to editing those bloody photos, hmmm... Should probably go to the cafe and do some of that today. But first I will be going out for lunch.
Still slowly making my way through The Diviners. It's an okay book. I hope to finish it this weekend - think I will, if I keep at it. Also started reading a book about biological/chemical warfare in the ancient world (can't remember the title). By that, refers to things like the deliberate spread of contagion, the use of poison, and use of chemical substances such as petroleum or gunpowder against the enemy. Pretty awesome. <3
