Ahh, Lahti! I don't know much about the place, but I do know where it is, so. Can totally understand you'd never have expected to end up living in Finland, it's pretty unexpected but life is surprising sometimes. *_* 6-7 hours per day?! All that hard work will pay off. Is it all formal study, or are you studying through fun stuff too? (Reading/Movies/etc) It's a very cozy-sounding language, I think, so it's no surprise that you enjoy it. :3
Only 4 cups of coffee per day? U need to step up ur game, mate. Make it 5. ;p
As for me and languages: I wanted to try a Germanic language, so I decided to learn Norwegian, because German is too hard and Swedish is too mainstream. Though the writing systems complicate things (let me tell you how much Nynorsk drives me crazy) so maybe being a hipster about it wasn't a good idea after all. It agrees with me a lot more than Finnish and French, though. Except I've been kind of neglecting it a little lately, due to being busy. But I should practice more, for fandom reasons. I run a fest that accepts non-English submissions, and I want to be able to write a fic in Norwegian for it next year. *_* I know I can write 500 words in Norwegian, but writing 500 words of fiction, in correct Norwegian, will be harder.
Yes of course I watched Eurovision! What did you think of it? I thought that a lot of the entries were kind of blah, but that they were a lot better in the studio recordings. The winner wasn't my favourite, but I did like it, so I don't mind that it won. Was cheering for Italy or Georgia, though.
Canada is full of the hoseriest hosers, you don't even know. What about Finland?
I am actually on a trip RIGHT NOW in Victoria BC. It's nice. I haven't done much writing. I don't wanna go back to work. Next year I have vague plans for going to either Norway or Sweden, but I dunno. Last year was Reykjavik/Amsterdam/Brussels, which was nice, except I didn't spend NEARLY enough time in Iceland, 'twas sad.
What about you though? Have you been anywhere, or have you mainly been chilling in Finland? Have you seen much of the country? I've been to Turku and Helsinki, but not farther than that.
