Pfff. PFFFFFF. Trashy romance novels! I know precisely the kind you're talking about, with the ridiculous titles and cheesy covers and everything. Anecdote: When I worked at Superstore, I was usually the one to take care of the books - unpacking orders and stocking and counting the returns and so on. Naturally a huge chunk of the stuff was made up of those trashy novels. I'd read the back, flip through them, laugh. A couple times I sat down over break to read them and my gods I could hardly get through them, they were so awful! Anyway. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they used a generator for those things, considering.
So, anyway. You could be my writing cheerleader if you want, hah! But as for the Szpilman fic, I'll consider it. If I recall correctly, it was about 3/4 of the way drafted. I think there were two reasons I scrapped it: 1. I was worried about Doing It Wrong, and 2. It was a little overly dramatic. But, I could always fix that. It was one of the very first Hetalia fics I wrote, I think, and I guess I just wasn't very confident at that time. Hmm, I should go looking for that draft now... need to re-read The Pianist, too.
You're right that people who have English as a second (or third) language tend to have better grammar and such than native speakers. I do find, though, that occasionally it has certain patterns that are unusual, and in such cases I can detect it - but it really depends on the person and their proficiency, of course. But the very fact that they can speak (or rather, read/write) it so well is impressive. I fail at languages, too. Eight years of French, and nothing to show for it, ahhhh. I've tried to learn others, but it's just not something I'm good at. I'm going to have to take French and Latin at the university level in order to get my phD, and the thought of being in those classes makes me facedesk so badly. Argh, maybe I shouldn't worry, but it's definitely not one of my strengths.
As for the anon, I don't think they recognized me. Then again, who knows. Maybe I really was that obvious even back in the day. D:
PFFFF The whole reason beyond the de-anon post is because people kept outing meeeeee *flail* Well, okay. To be fair, it was mostly fyretoppaaa. But sometimes it was other people. And eventually I just got so frustrated and gave up. I didn't think that eventually everyone would be able to figure out when it's me! Arrrrrgh
Anyway, don't be sorry~ As I said before, I love long conversations.
Re: Sorry, but your comment of 5945 characters exceeds the maximum character length
