The other day, I watched the 2021 Three Wishes for Cinderella/Tre nøtter til Askepott. This is a remake of the 1973 Czech film, Tři oříšky pro Popelku.

I've heard so many good things about the original Czech version; unfortunately, my local library doesn't have it, so it'll be a while before I get to take a look at it. (Looking forward to that, though.)

Anyway - the Norwegian version is lovely. Very fun, very pretty. Would watch it again (...matter've fact, I kind of wish I hadn't returned it so soon, because it'd be nice to rewatch today, as my brain is not working). Loved the visuals, loved the costume design. The vibes between Askepott and the Prince were great; I also found myself really liking a lot of the side characters. And the scene where Askepott is in disguise as a boy was awesome, everything about it was just - I loved it.

The beginnings of the film felt a little stiff (nothing in particular I can put my finger on, just vibes) but that's the only issue I have with it, really.

Someone who's seen the original might have a more critical opinion, but as for me, I thought the film was lovely. Would recommend. Aaand now I guess I really do need to track down the Czech version so I can compare!
