Oct. 16th, 2023 03:49 pmWent to physiotherapy today. When I went to see the doctor after my judo injury, he gave me a referral, so I figured... might as well. Especially since I'm not 100% back to normal yet (which is, I will admit, 100% my fault).
Physio guy didn't seem too concerned, though he did say that if there is still trouble after 2 or 3 more weeks, he might order x-rays to be sure. Anyway, he did a few things, gave me some exercises, etc... I'm going to do my best to do the exercises as instructed, because like, might as well.
It's got me thinking that this might be a good time to take up lifting. Like, not right at this moment, because I have a headcold, but - if I'm not all congested and whatnot next week, it might be something to try. Since I need to stay off that foot, I should do something that doesn't involve putting my weight on it, right? It's just kind of intimidating, but... sometimes you gotta just do it, I guess.
I will confess that this line of thought is partly because I have some ambitions related to upper body strength, and a couple of years to achieve that. In addition to it having judo-related application, of course.
In the meantime, I feel very ugh. Yeahh. Time to flop down on the couch and watch something mindless. My brain is just not working right now.
[Edit]
Okay, so.
My apartment complex does have a weight room; I just went to check it out annnd... Yeah, I have no idea how to use any of the equipment in there. The cardio room also has a small rack of dumbbells and a bench for it, which is probably where I would realistically start - but again, I've never used those before. Hmm.
I'm starting to think that it might be worthwhile to book a session with a trainer down at the fitness centre. Then they'd be able to show me what to do, and possibly tailor the routine to my needs. It's a little bit expensive, but I think I'd be more comfortable having a professional show me how to do everything properly. :Va Going to have to do more research first.
...In the meantime, I guess I'll just. Stick with bodyweight exercises and yoga. And avoid putting weight on that foot.
