yuuago: (DenNor - Rest)
I had to go downtown today to get my tires switched. I was kind of bracing myself, but the areas that I had to go through were all minimally damaged, so there wasn't really any sign that anything had happened, aside from the massive piles of ice heaped up on the riverbank. The damage is all in a different area.

I was worried that the library might have been flooded, but the reports coming in from the rec centre (which the library is attached to) seem to indicate that the flood came close but didn't quite reach it, so hopefully that applies to the whole complex. In any case, we're allowed to return our books now, so I suppose I'll drop mine in a bin sometime soon....

News indicates that the boil-water order could last until September, though it might get lifted earlier if everything goes well. I don't quite recall the details of what happened, but my understanding is that floodwater got into the water treatment plant system/reservoir/something like that, and it needs to be flushed and cleaned, which will take a long time to do thoroughly. People keep complaining about it (and of course I don't like the situation either!) but... seriously, this isn't something to take lightly, and it's best to make sure that everything regarding this is done properly. I can live with boiling our water for a few months.

Finished drafting one of my charity auction fics this evening. That's 1 down, 3 to go. Still need to type it up, of course, but it's good to have finished something. I haven't written nearly as much as I would like, and not nearly as much as I typically would under ordinary circumstances, so... Well, anyway. It's good to have at least one thing somewhat out of the way for now. (And now, to work on the other three... Started them, but haven't made a huge amount of progress.)

Leaving aside the current state of, well, everything, I think the lack of change in scenery might be partly to blame (I usually don't write at home). So... hopefully it'll soon be warm enough that I'll be able to write out on the patio. That might help, I think. I want to get these things written, but it's so hard! Though I've been making an effort to slap down a couple of sentences every day, so at least that's something.
