[aRTD] Un rêve de renard
Nov. 8th, 2019 05:24 pmWhat! A Redtail's Dream has been released en français! It was put out earlier this month under the title Un rêve de renard. Only found out yesterday, but this is very exciting.
I'm assuming that this means that Stand Still Stay Silent is doing reasonable well in the French-speaking world, because I doubt that the publisher, Akileos, would want to put out Sundberg's less popular work otherwise.
So, this means that there's an edition of aRTD in actual print format! Unfortunately, it's one I can't read. xD I wonder if it's a good translation. Hannu is such a spectacular asshole; not just a lovable grump but really, he's quite a jerk. I wonder if he comes across the same way in French. Hopefully the FR side of SSSS/aRTD fandom will eventually put up some details about this.
Curious as to what new audiences might think of it - aRTD is kind of a wobbly work, because it takes a few chapters to find its feet. Even though I love it, I usually skip the prologue and first two chapters on re-reads. And some people find the repetitive fairy tale structure kind of dull. Maybe I'll have to see if I can chase up some reviews later.
Regardless, yay, French edition! I have heard that an English edition of aRTD through Hiveworks is in the list of future projects, though I'm not sure when precisely this is going to happen. To be quite honest, I'm not entirely sure if I want to have a print edition - 600 pages is an awful lot, where on earth would I put it?! But the idea of it existing in physical print makes me happy.
