[Music] Ramy Essam
Aug. 15th, 2019 10:00 pmI heard some of Ramy Essam's music on the radio the other day, and man, I am intrigued.
He's a rock musician from Egypt, and he has a really banging sound. Great rhythm, and I love his voice.
The song I heard was دبورة وشورت وكاب | Daboura we Short we Cap. (Unofficial translation here). Haven't listened to a lot of his other stuff yet, but I like what I hear so far.
He became really well known during protests in Egypt in 2011. His music is very political, very outspoken against authoritarianism and inequality in Egypt. Because of all this, his work is banned there.
Looks like he hasn't released anything new this year, but I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for new work from him.
