I've been digging so many newly-released albums this month, wow. Here's some quick notes on just a few of them -

Crowned in Frost by Frozen Crown. Light and fun power metal with female vocals. All it took was getting a minute into "Neverending" for me to think, yeah, I like this a lot. It hits a lot of the same notes that a lot of my favourite songs by other bands do, while managing to be relatively light on the cheese.

American Love Call by Durand Jones and the Indications. If you like old school soul and r&b, you'll like this. "Long Way Home" brings back all these cozy nostalgic feelings that I usually just get from the '60s soul music that my parents always listened to when I was a kid. Love this guy's vocals.

Ilana: The Creator by Mdou Moctar. I heard "Wiwasharine" on the radio, and thought, I must check this guy's work out immediately. He's got some great guitar work, and a really neat blend of modern and traditional Tuareg styles. The album won't be released until the end of the month (Mar 29), but there are three singles up on Bandcamp right now.

Doko Mien by Ibibio Sound Machine. Oh boy, this is GOOD STUFF. If you like disco and funk, please listen to "Wanna Come Down" right away. She's got a really vibrant sound, really fun. It's the kind of music that just makes you want to move. Think I might have mentioned her work on a previous occasion - Uyai is another album by her that I like a lot.
