Man, you know, sometimes it's really surprising to see which of my fics people decide to rec out of the lot.

I'm left sitting there like, "That one? You really liked it that much?"

They often aren't necessarily the ones that I put the most work into. Or they're ones that I was very pleased with at the time they were written, but find kind of unsatisfactory now. And so on.

It's not what I'd expect, at any rate. And it's kind of neat to see how people's tastes differ from my own.

Definitely a surprise, though.

But I get the impression that this happens to a lot of people. Not just writers, either; I've seen the same sort of thing from artists. "Really, people like that one?!" Looks like it might be a common experience. ;)
