Oh my god, now I know what people have been vaguely alluding to, and I agree.

Or - well, actually, speaking from a purely serious point of view, it makes for an interesting story; considering such a thing was implied/referenced/hinted at in the first series. The cyclical nature of... everything.

Needless to say, the second series has dropped a bit on my to-watch list... I might get around to it eventually, but it isn't high priority.

Mind you, it wasn't high-priority in the first place, considering it has a very different cast - not just different characters, but very different character types. One of the things that appeals to me about the first series is that the central characters are a bit older, a bit more mature, a bit more world-weary; NiF2 seems to have a younger group at its centre.

But. Anyway.

These ep commentaries are getting a bit tl;dr. But, I suppose, if I ever write fic for this canon, they might come to some use.
