LoZ: MM? YES!!

I found out today that there's going to be a 3DS remake of Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask! I am so excited about this! I know that the fans have wanted it for ages. As for me... I actually can't remember if I ever finished playing the N64 version. It's possible that I found it too difficult at the time (I'm terrible at playing games, always have been). But it's a really interesting game, and I am totally looking forward to buying it. Amazon gives the release date as late June 2015, which is shortly before my birthday. Perfect.

Of course, I haven't played the 3DS of Ocarina of Time yet, and I should probably do that before the MM release. And I should... finish the other 3DS games I have on the go. If not Pokemon X, then at least Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. I've been stalled on that one for ages. I was hoping to fall in love with it, because some of my friends really enjoy that series, but while it's an okay "playing on the transit" distraction, I just... don't love it. I'm not sure why. I don't get that spark from it in the same way that I do with some (but not all) of the LoZ games. And VH as of late. Oh, well, at least now I get some of the references and jokes.

For a while there, I was kind of stalled out on LoZ. I think it's because, while A Link Between Worlds wowed me and reminded me of everything that I love about Legend of Zelda, the game I played directly after that was Phantom Hourglass, which just... didn't give me what I was looking for. It wasn't the visuals - I saw a lot of people complaining about that aspect of the Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass/Spirit Tracks set of games, but that didn't bother me. I think the issue was that there were so many alterations to the setting that in the end it didn't feel quite like the Hyrule I was familiar with, so it fell flat for me. Even though I own Spirit Tracks, I haven't even taken it out of the packaging yet. But maybe I'll get around to that eventually.

Though one thing in Phantom Hourglass's favour - it did give me Linebeck. I can't help but love that guy. I think I just have a thing for greedy but secretly kind characters. He grows on you like mold.

Anyway. Definitely looking forward to the Majora's Mask re-release, though it will be a while before it happens. And maybe me getting a refreshed interest in LoZ will be enough for me to get my ass in gear and finish that ALBW fic that I started earlier this year.

VH on Mobile + Dogs of War

After playing the iOS version of Valiant Hearts for a while, I came to some conclusions about it. So, crossposted from the tumblr post I made about iOS vs Windows versions here-

The main issue is definitely the controls; the DLC is just a minor complaint. I think that what I might do next is try to find my itouch stylus (because I do have one) and see if using that makes playing any easier. Otherwise, I have no flucking clue how I will clear some of the more difficult parts of the game, like Chemin des Dames; that one was practically impossible to get through even when using the keyboard.

I kind of wish I could play one of the game console versions, just so I could compare that to the Windows and iOS versions and see what the feel of it is, buuuut... I don't have that available, so. Anyway.

One neat thing - tomorrow (Nov 6th) there's going to be something new for download (as stated on the official tumblr here). "Valiant Hearts: Dogs of War". And since I've already paid for the mobile VH, this is free. :D "An interactive comic book"... I wonder what they mean by that, exactly? Guess I'll see when it's up.

Anyway, I'm going to try not to speculate very much until it's released and I get a chance to sit down and look at it. I'm not sure if it's pushing the educational angle or the character/narrative angle more. It looks like it's mainly about Walt and other dogs... there's another cap elsewhere on the tumblr, but it's definitely not enough to draw conclusions.
