So, last night I watched Ringu 0. It's a prequel to Ringu (the Japanese film that The Ring was based on) and it's really, really good. In fact, as a film, I think I would say that it's better than Ringu, though it isn't a case of watching one or the other, of course; Ringu 0 doesn't make much sense if you don't know Ringu. But anyway.
Essentially, what it does is, it takes a look at Sadako's life, and develops her as a person. So we get a really good sense of what the heck is up with her, and what happened with the circumstances of her ending up in the well. ... The film gets pretty weird in the last 1/2 hour or so, but considering it's in the Ringu series, I guess that's to be expected.
So. If you liked Ringu or The Ring, watch Ringu 0; it's really good.
Anyway. Today I went to the trouble of making myself hot cereal for breakfast. That was nice. It isn't something that I usually do, because you have to do it in a pot and somehow whenever I cook anything I make a bit of a mess and use way more dishes than I should. But it was delicious and worth it. My parents are away on vacation this weekend, so I've been feeling very relaxed.
I've been reading Three Day Road by Joseph Boyden this past week. It's really, really good. I've had the book for a while, but I was avoiding it because I had read one of his other books (Through Black Spruce) and didn't like it all that much. But this one, this one's really good. It's about the friendship between two Cree men who go overseas to fight during WWI, and how their relationship changes over the course of their time there. Well, there are other things in it too, but that's the main idea. I'm only about 1/3 of the way through though, so some things will probably change as I read it. ... Regardless, it's good. (But skip Through Black Spruce, because that one isn't so good.)
