Judo adventures - Summer session 04

Attending: Me, VP, C. F instructing.

We're almost in our new space! Right now we're only using half of the space - the other martial arts club hasn't moved out yet, so we're going to have to share for a while. Regardless, it's just nice to have proper mats again.

Class was pretty simple today. Form practice, drills, etc; we only did two throws - osoto-gari and seoi-nage - in order to keep things simple. Set ups, then up and down the mats, and then full throw drills with the crash mats. Switched partners a lot.

I was worried that I would be in rough shape since we haven't had class for several weeks, but I didn't do too badly! Still the same issues as always (grip, form) but overall I'm happy with how everything went.

Working with C is kind of a challenge. He's reluctant to put force behind it when he does drills with me or even throws me, and I don't know if it's because I'm old, because I'm bigger than he is, or because I'm very inexperienced compared to him. Ha, well, he'll find out soon enough that I don't care about any of that.
