Mundane miscellany
This weekend has been so damn dreary. Raining the whole time! I had plans to go spend some time outside, maybe sit on the deck and read for a bit, maybe walk down to the ice cream shop and get something sweet, but... it's been way too cold for that. Not much fun.
We finally fixed the treadmill in our garage. I'm so glad. Trying to substitute my nightly walks with yoga has left me so sore. xD (I mean, I do enjoy it, but... usually not the amount that I've been doing it.) I used to be able to do a lot of things with it - couldn't do a full plough, where you bring your knees to the floor behind your head, but I could at least bring my feet to the floor behind my head. But I'm not as flexible as I used to be.
The treadmill's been fucked for about two weeks; none of the buttons on the console were working at all, so the speed couldn't be adjusted. Turns out that there was a sensor that was out of alignment, and all it required was nudging it into the correct spot.
We don't have a gym nearby, and for most of the year the weather makes it impossible to exercise outside, so I rely on this thing more than I would like. BUT, at least there's no need to worry about that any more. xD
Aaanyway. I washed my rug this afternoon. It's from Society6, and I kind of have mixed feelings about it. On the upside: easy to clean; just throw in the washer/dryer. Has a design by an artist that I like on it. Downside: Kind of cheaply made, lightweight and therefore hard to vacuume, kicks up easily, would look better if I ironed it.
Kind of want to get something with a firmer backing instead; it would be really nice if I could run the vacuum over this thing without the vacuum sucking it up. But there is indeed something to be said for throwing it in the wash.
Speaking of Society6 stuff though, I really love their coasters. They're really solid, and it's easy to wipe them down. Zero regrets about those. Some of the things on their site, though... I keep scrolling through thinking "Oh, that looks really nice! I kind of want it!" but half of that stuff probably doesn't look as good in real life. (And it's so expensive to send it to Canada, geeze.)
So, while I was trying to think of stuff to keep me occupied during the rain, I konmari'd my bedside table, which is where I keep most of my summer clothes. Not a lot of room in that drawer, but then again, I don't have very many summer clothes. Now there are only a few things left to tackle. I need to redo my closet, because I wasn't able to go through it properly the first time. There are some things in it where I was like "Well, I don't know what to do with this, so it can stay for now", but I really need to take a closer look at what's in there. There are also some things that, ideally, wouldn't be there at all, but what can ya' do when you're in a small living space. ;V
I'm also going to need to go through my other dresser at some point. Which will be hard, because it's full of a lot of heirlooms and such, and it's like... what should I do with this? I don't want to get rid of most of it, but these aren't things that I would wear or use, either. But maybe I'll find a way to condense the storage in some way. It's hard to store things vertically, because there are a lot of little boxes, but maybe if I can find a way to layer them efficiently... oh, who knows.
I think for some of it, if I can't remember who gave it to me or why I have it, I might condense it all into one box. And then I'll put all of the things that my grandmother gave me - at least, the things that I don't wear - in another box. That might help. The ideal right now is to free up one of three drawers so that I can use it for clothes, but I'm not sure how realistic that is. I'm going to need to take a look at what's there before I decide anything.

...If precedent is any indicator, the work week will be Very Sunny, and then next weekend will be a downpour again. xD
