Reading Wednesday
Finished reading: Mindplayers by Pat Cadigan. Nothing to say here that I haven't said in previous entries. But man, what a mindtrip. Some of it had imagery that I didn't really understand - in the dream/mindplay sequences, that is - so I think I'll have to take a second look at this eventually, to try to puzzle it out. I definitely will not mind re-reading it. ...Also, I've acquired a new obscure femslash ship: Deadpan Allie/Fandango.
Also, Equal Rites by Terry Pratchett. Man, I love Granny Weatherwax. I just enjoy reading about her so much - though she's a little different in this than in the later books, of course. Close enough, though. I find it a little strange that Esk and Simon were never mentioned in any of the later novels set at Unseen University - except for in I Shall Wear Midnight, which is very recent. With the changes that were made, maybe it was tricky to reconcile them with the updates, hard to say....
Currently Reading: The Redeemer by Jo Nesbø. I have three novels in the Harry Hole series left to read; this is one of them. Some day, I'll go through the series again and re-read them all in order, because I'm finding it hard to keep track of the timeline. Rather, I can't remember which event happened in which book. So far, this one is interesting because it comes right after the end of the Prince plot, but I haven't been reading it long enough to know what actually happens yet. So far, I don't want to punch Harry. This is a good sign. Though, knowing Harry, I'll want to punch him eventually, because I haven't read a single Nesbø novel where I haven't wanted to throttle him after a while.
Re-reading the novels will be great, though. It'll be very interesting to read The Redbreast for a second time, considering that the first time I read it, I was so uncomfortable for about... well at least the first third of the book, or maybe even halfway through. Knowing how it ends will put everything in a different light.
Reading Next: Either Terry Pratchett's Mort or Pat Cadigan's Fools. Haven't decided yet. ... It might depend on whether I can find Mort or not after I've finished with The Redeemer. Imagine me pulling stuff off bookshelves going "WHERE IS IT", because this happens every time I try to find one of my Pratchett books.
