La la la

Ugh, my house is in such disarray. Well, need to clean that first (shouldn't take long), then, research for essays. I have one for Medieval on Middle English dialects that is coming up pretty quickly. Fortunately, many of the resources I need are electronic, so I can do it from home... or from the cafe. Hm, also need to finish reading The Englishman's Boy for CanLit.

It's gorgeous out today; +5C and sunny. I should get out a little bit. Homework (and housework) is important, but there are only really 3.5 more hours of sunlight left in the day... I should probably make use of that while I can.

Also, I've come to remember how much I love having foreign language radio as background noise. Used to do that with French-Canadian television and radio a lot, but sometimes found it distracting because I do understand a little bit of French. The past few days, I've been listening to stuff in languages I don't know at all, and it's good - I get my noise, but I don't get distracted by what's being said/sung. It's a lot better than the usual silence I have going on.

While I'm thinking on it - WHY THE FUCK does USask's library close at 6 PM on a Friday. That makes ABSOLUTELY no sense. They should have longer hours on weekends, not shorter hours! Sigh.

For some reason I hear something that sounds like fireworks outside. But it can't possibly be fireworks, as there's no reason for that. I don't understand, you guys. Anyway, while I didn't get as much accomplished as I had hoped to, I did get some things done. Just need to clean up the house a little bit more. Seems that's never-ending. Got some homework done too, but not as much as I had hoped.

I received a surprise postcard from Ari, as well as another letter from Minako. Eee, surprise mail makes me so, so happy. <3

Just stopping by to say huff huff Middle English.

and eee foreign language radio is fantastic. I can't use it as background noise, though, because I end up listening intently, trying to pick out words and figure out what's going on even if I know next to nothing about the language. (Estonian radio, I take it?)

Oooh Old English is fascinating because it's so different and you don't realize it until you try to read it. I wonder if someone's constructed an English as it would have evolved from Old English without stealing half of French. That would be awesome. (I am a nerd.)

fff I can't pick anything out either, but I can't help trying anyway. And oh yuu.
