While I was asleep, dear Nunuut mentioned on twitter that she'd have to be at work early because of the typhoon hitting Manila (she's in the medical profession). I hadn't been keeping up with the news over there, so when I looked it up this morning, it was a surprise, though I shouldn't have been surprised at all - the Philippines deals with awful weather a lot, I should know when to expect it now. If the BBC information is anything to go by, it looks like Typhoon Hagupit has made a huge mess.

My friend will be okay, I think. I just probably won't hear from her for a while because she'll be busy. It frustrates me that there isn't much I can do about things like this. Aside from throwing money at the Philippine Red Cross, I guess (which I did, since they have a site here to donate via paypal, very convenient).

I normally don't write about things like this. It isn't exactly an uplifting topic. But I guess when things directly affect my friends, I get a little bothered and melancholy about it.

Fandom_stocking etc

Ahh! The post for my stocking in fandom_stocking is finally up! It's here. I mostly listed my currently-active fandoms, which most of my flist doesn't share, but greetings are lovely, so. Also if y'all are participating, you should link to yours too, so that I can drop greetings (and hopefully goodies?) in them.

I already have seen a bunch of stockings that I want to make icons for, so I'm going to try to do that after I finish my real-life Christmas cards and wrapping and whatnot.

... Wanted to write Yuletide treats this year, too, but I don't think that will happen at all. Maybe next year.
